If you belong to the law enforcement or has a job that involves protecting the life of another person, it is very important that clear and constant communications be maintained within the team so that success comes easier in every mission.

One great way that you can maintain this is to use two-way radios and the like, just like the Motorolla walkie talkie. The brand has been long known in providing the best communication solutions to its customers, which is why it can be trusted for a big job. It has proven to be very reliable as well, especially for emergency cases where communication is very important.

A Motorolla walkie talkie comes in many varieties. The company has a two-way radio model allowing communications between two people. This is great for those who have to return reports and updates to a superior in the headquarters at regular intervals. It is also advantageous where there are limited service provider signals – the only way to reach to the outside is though a Motorolla walkie talkie.

However, this type of communication tool is not only limited to people who are in chases and are protecting other people’s lives. A new Motorolla walkie talkie model, called the MOTOTLKR has come up in the market to provide another way of communicating between friends, family or even groups and teams. For those who are worried about limited signals and high call costs, this is the perfect solution for you.

The MOTOTLKR can be brought anywhere and is rechargeable, so can still be a reliable tool even in emergencies. These Motorolla walkie talkie models also have various ranges but they are all proven to give good performance. It has even other features such as a built in room monitor as well as a timer.

Therefore, for those who are into sports and adventure with a team, a Motorolla walkie talkie should be one gadget you would not leave home without. It is an extremely helpful tool and can be relied on in cases where you got lost or are just in an emergency and would need the help of other people. You can even walk in style with this great gadget and it does not look or feel bulky at all – it is very lightweight and you can clip it anywhere you want to – you might even forget that you have a powerful tool as a constant companion in your adventures.

Doing detective work can be fun and adventurous at times. However, in order to become successful in a mission, certain equipments have to be present and they should work well too, just like if you use a walkie talkie earpiece.

Why use a walkie talkie earpiece?

It is a very convenient way to be able to keep regular communications with other people, without the need to lift the bulky walkie talkie handset that may just get in the way. It is especially helpful for law enforcement personnel and detectives who are in their jobs. They are able to track down the criminals without looking suspicious and they are able to report to their headquarters in a very discreet manner.

There are even walkie-talkies that allow a transmission between the handset and the walkie talkie earpiece in, at least, a 3 kilometer distance. This makes it very handy and there is no need to carry it around, making it convenient for chasing and arresting criminals.

A walkie talkie earpiece is also convenient for use among people in casinos and those that offer protection to other people. There are certain models of these earpieces that are not detected easily and are wireless. Thus, one may just stick the earpiece into the ears and a transmitter, which can fit right into a standard wallet, is used to receive transmissions. Some of these transmitters can be used to serve 10 earpieces at most although they would have to maintain a certain distance to be effective.

If you believe that your job badly needs one to be able to talk in a discreet manner and walk around without lugging heavy communications equipments, then a walkie talkie earpiece should do the right job. The good thing about purchasing this product is that it does not need much effort, since they are easily available especially on the Internet.

You can easily look for a walkie talkie earpiece from any brand, model or features and specifications. When you do the shopping over the Internet, you can also compare prices between brands and stores so you can get the one with the best feature at the lowest price possible.

Now, you should be sure that you and your colleagues would stay on top of your game because you are all equipped with the right, high tech gadgets that could further lead each of your missions to success.

Kenwood started out as a high end stereo component company and still makes high quality audio equipment for home and car needs. They also make amateur radio equipment, business radio equipment and land mobile radio equipment. If you are searching for a Kenwood walkie talkie you can check out all of their products on their website.

The Kenwood ProTalk series of walkie talkies has a two year warranty versus the one year warranty of the FreeTalk series. The Kenwood TK-3230 is the entry level model for Kenwood walkie talkies. Starting at $165, the TK-3230 is a 1.5W two channel two way radio with scan function and Manager Key Lock. It is VOX capable with a built in scrambler (Privacy Talk) and a ten call Alert tone. The LCD display has a backlight and a four digit seven segment screen. There is a three level battery indicator and busy channel lockout feature. It is made for individual, group and all call radio functions that can be set via your PC. The talk range varies with the conditions it is being used in but if you are in a building it has a seventeen floor range. Near buildings the range is almost one and a half miles while in open areas you will be able to reach five miles out. Included with the unit are a 2000maH battery pack, belt clip and rapid charger. The unit operates on UHF frequencies.

At the other end of the spectrum of higher end Kenwood walkie talkies is the Kenwood TK-3203U16P at $239. This model is rated at four watts and has considerably more range than the TK-3230. The TK-3203 Kenwood walkie talkie is PC programmable (dealer only) and has one hundred twenty one privacy codes and sixteen UHF channels. Channel scan is included and is VOX capable when used with compatible VOX headsets. There is a user lock that closes down all functions except for the PTT and volume to prevent accidental channel changes. Body is die cast for strength and is made out of durable polycarbonate. There is a wireless cloning mode, battery save and low battery alert, a time out timer and a call alert tone. Included with the radio is a rapid three hour charger, antenna, twelve hour Li ion battery pack and a clip. The unit comes with a two year manufacturer’s warranty. Range ratings for this model are more than double than the TK-3230 due to the four watt (4W) power rating.

Audiovox is a manufacturer of electronic products that services the entire range of retail outlets for several brands including the name sake. These brands include RCA, Acoustic Research, Advent, Jensen, Code Alarm, Energizer, Terk and Surface. Audiovox may be best known for its mobile audio products. I can remember when I wanted to replace the OEM stereo in my car that Audiovox always had several models in displays at the auto parts stores, Kmart and Wal-Mart stores that you could listen to along with testing out the various speaker configurations.

Audiovox makes a number of electronic products under its own name at opening price points for all types of retail stores. They make just about anything related to audio in all of their brands. They have accessory speakers, antennas, Bluetooth car kits, cables, camcorders, car sound systems, remote start and security systems, clock radios, digital picture frames, home and portable audio devices, internet radio, DVD players, mp3 players, surge protectors, power conditioners, table top radios, under cabinet televisions, universal remotes, voice recorders, wireless remotes and other wireless solutions.

There are a number of hits on Audiovox walkie talkie (53,700), but very few are current. After thoroughly searching the Audiovox corporate website and looking at every one of their product categories, Audiovox walkie talkies or Audiovox two way radios were nowhere to be found. I did find a review on ZDnet on the Audiovox walkie talkie model GMRS9010. It has twenty two channels (fifteen GMRS and seven FRS). According to FCC rules it requires a FCC license that you can get for $85 through the FCC website, but no one except for businesses that operate on the public safety channels ever actually get one. Of the millions of GMRS hand sets sold there are actually only 85,000 FCC licenses on file. This Audiovox walkie talkie has a ten mile output rating range with a weather alert indicator and weather radio indicator. You can use it hands free with a VOX headset and it has an LCD display, drop in charger with two NiMH batteries and belt clips. It is currently available on Amazon.com for $149.99 new in original packaging. Additionally it comes with a pair of earbuds and has a built in LED flashlight. According to Amazon this item originally appeared in June of 2004.

After searching for an Audiovox walkie talkie on Amazon I found that of all the entries the most recent date for first use I could find was in 2006.

It was only a matter of time before some enterprising engineer came up with the idea to add GPS capability into a walkie talkie to make a fully functional GPS walkie talkie. GPS technology is being incorporated into smart phone apps for iPhones, Palm Pre, Blackberry and other manufacturers. The whole idea behind most of the innovations in extending the range of GMRS walkie talkies is to be able to communicate no matter where you are to keep from getting separated or lost while camping, hunting, hiking, back packing or just enjoying the outdoors. Adding GPS functionality makes having a GPS walkie talkie a great thing for your outdoor activities.

Typing in “GPS walkie talkie” into Google netted me over six hundred thousand hits (605,000) and one of the first was Garmins entry into the GPS walkie talkie market from 2007. Standard GPS systems give you your current location, what direction you are headed, your current speed and the approximate time to your destination. Most systems offer you a base set of maps and a way to set your route, save stop points along the way and if you have a more deluxe model – turn by turn directions.

If you are a fan of the various Garmin GPS devices around then you probably will like the Rino Series of GPS walkie talkies from Garmin. The Rino 110 has twenty two channels (fifteen in GMRS and seven in FRS). You have a maximum range of two miles in FRS mode and five miles in GMRS mode. The Rino 100 has thirty eight squelch codes for each channel to provide somewhat private communication. Another feature is the ability to send your exact GPS coordinates to another Rino user.

The 500 series Rino GPS walkie talkie sets are the top of the line answer to most of the problems faced out in the country. These sets retail between four hundred fifty ($449.99) and five hundred ($499.99) dollars. The Rino 500 series is rated IPX7 or waterproof in three meters of water for up to thirty minutes. This is exceptionally valuable for any kind of backcountry trip or guide who offers boating, kayaking, canoeing or fishing trips. Dropping any electronic device into water is a recipe for disaster but the Rino 520 and 530 can get wet at any time and still work like a champ. The 530 gives you the added bonus of an NOAA radio for weather alerts.

Uniden is a multi national company making a multitude of products including Bluetooth accessories, marine electronics, CB radios, scanners, home phones and of course, Uniden Walkie Talkies. If you have ever walked into a store looking for two way radios you have more than likely seen a Uniden Walkie Talkie. Uniden has been making walkie talkies for longer than I can remember. Of the major electronics manufacturers only Motorola is in as many stores as Uniden is. Uniden makes a full range of walkie talkies for every imaginable use and price range. If you are going camping and want an inexpensive pair of Uniden walkie talkies you can find a pair that will take AA batteries in almost any sporting goods or discount store for less than thirty dollars.

These will be the base model with a two mile range. GMR1235-2 is a pair of blended GMRS/FRS radios that have twenty two channels (15 GMRS and 7 FRS), a battery strength meter, keypad lock, channel lock, channel scan feature, one call tone, and a belt clip. This pair of radios can be purchased from the Uniden Direct site for $19.99.

The next step up in the product line up is the GMR535-2 with the same features as the GMR1235-2 but with a five mile transmitting range. This model is not available at Uniden Direct. GMR1038-2 has a ten mile range and more features like ninety nine privacy codes, five call tones, roger beep, hands free operation (VOX) and a headset jack.

Another unit in the Uniden walkie talkie line up is the GMR1838-2CK. They have an eighteen mile range and come with their own charging cradle and two NiMH batteries. These models also have a backlit LCD display and all of the features that the GMR1038-2 have. The top of the line model from Uniden is the GMR2889-2CK with an amazing twenty eight mile range. The disclaimer says that range varies with the terrain. These models include a charging cradle with two NiMH batteries, and the standard twenty two channels. Other features included are the ability to direct call an individual in your group instead of everyone, auto channel change – changes everyone in the group to a new channel to avoid interference, a PowerBoost key, 285 privacy settings, over 6,270 possible channel settings, NOAA weather channels – all for only $69.99 for the pair at Uniden Direct. It is very affordable to buy a Uniden walkie talkie.

Long range walkie talkies are available in a variety of styles and prices depending on the number of features you want on your set. For the longest time GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) was relatively expensive in relation to FRS (Family Radio Service) models. FRS models can be had for around twenty to thirty dollars a pair with a charger while most GMRS radios start at twice that amount for one GMRS radio. Several years ago that difference was about five to one instead of two to one. Pricing has come down as the demand for long range walkie talkies has increased.

It will not be hard to find a long range walkie talkie in your local area. Local outdoor sporting goods stores from camping stores to hunting and fishing stores to discount stores all carry long range walkie talkies now. Major makers of these units include Motorola, Icom, Kenwood, Cobra, Uniden and Audiovox. What makes a long range walkie talkie long range? It all has to do with the out put power of the handset. Anything less than one watt (1W) is considered FRS and is relegated to a certain band of frequencies. GMRS radios for public and business use can have as high an output as five watts (5W). This power output can give you a ten mile range in clear line of site territory. This power will give you greater reach in populated (residential) areas and inside buildings.

Many of these models are used by fire fighters and disaster relief workers and have enhanced voice capabilities to allow them to be heard over the sounds of a fire or storm. Many GMRS models are also constructed to be dust and waterproof for those occupations as well as to Mil Spec 810 C, D, E for armed forces use in the field.

Owners of GMRS radios are now required to obtain a personal license from the FCC to use these radios. They operate on the UHF-FM band in the 450 to 470 MHz area and have twenty three distinct channels available for use. Applications for the personal license can be downloaded from the FCC government website. GMRS licenses cost $85 and are usually purchased by businesses using long range walkie talkies in the GMRS band for employee communications. Combination FRS/GMRS radios have been sold over the last several years in blister packs at retail (30-50 million sets) and very few if any owners have purchased a GMRS license as required by the FCC.

Do you enjoy the ease of giving your children a walkie talkie handset while they are playing in the neighborhood? Instead of yelling for them to come home for dinner you can page them on the walkie talkies. If you are around other people at home the noise and volume of most walkie talkies can be rather unsettling so you may want to use a walkie talkie headset. It can be as simple as going to the dollar store and picking out a cheap pair of earbuds for your walkie talkie headset.

Most walkie talkies have a 3.5 mm headset jack that will take just about any audio headset you can buy at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target or most grocery or drug stores. Do you use your walkie talkies for traveling together on the road instead of cell phones? There are a number of walkie talkie manufacturers that make FRS and GMRS radios for campers and the like. The only issue is the range of the unit. FRS and GMRS walkie talkies operate in different frequencies that are set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Walkie Talkies are not the toys you could get with next to no range any more. Several years ago I represented Cherokee radios in both FRS and GMRS versions. They produced radios under their own name and the Coleman brand. The main differences in the two styles are the power, range and frequency they operate in. These radios are much clearer than even the most powerful CB radios of the past and allow anyone to communicate over large distances with ease.

FRS (Family Radio Service) radios can have a maximum power output of 0.5W by law and work on channel 1-14 as set by the FCC. Due to its lower power rating FRS radios have a shorter range than GMRS models. You can improve range by the addition of better antennas and/or transceivers. When communicating while hunting or camping you may not want to startle wildlife by using a walkie talkie headset that will work on any FRS or GMRS radio.

GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) radios are more powerful and can achieve greater ranges and are used more by hunters and rescue workers than FRS radios. Using a walkie talkie headset allows you to conserve battery power when in the field. Ranges of up to ten miles can be reached from mountain to mountain.

What boy did not want a set of walkie talkies for his birthday or Christmas? Children’s walkie talkies were featured prominently in the blockbuster movie Toy Story and Small Soldiers. Many early children’s walkie talkies were not the voice type, but were Morse code operated. As electronics have become smaller and less expensive the major manufacturers of two way radios like Audiovox, Uniden, Motorola and others have offered a number of less powerful children’s walkie talkies in their own brands and in various themed licenses as well. While you can find very inexpensive two way radios for “adults” in either FRS only or GMRS and FRS hybrids, the vast majority of children’s walkie talkies are FRS only due to cost considerations.

On Amazon.com alone there are eighty eight different entries for children’s walkie talkies. The “adult” two way radios are generally the same style with an amorphous oval shape with an indentation around the middle of the unit to fit the hand better. Engineers have thrown out that standard when making two way radios for kids. Many times the designs are driven by the particular license they are manufactured under.

For example, there are several models under the Marvel Comics license. There is a pair of walkie talkies shaped like Spiderman and the Human Torch for $13.95. There is also a pair of figural Spiderman walkie talkies for $12.95. With the new Transformers movie bringing in such a huge box office the toys and cartoons are seeing a renaissance in sales as well. There is a pair of Transformer PowerHead walkie talkies in the shape of the heads of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee for $16.95. Power Ranger figural two way radios, Sponge Bob radios with flexible safety antennas, Hello Kitty, Rescue Heroes, Bakugan, Lego, Disney Princess and Little Mermaid are some of the other licenses. If your child has a particular favorite show then you can probably find a children’s walkie talkie in that license. There are also models from Kid Quest and National Geographic that are literally clones of each other just in different skin colors. All of these children’s walkie talkie sets are single channel with only AA or AAA batteries for power. Range is generally less than 75 feet line of site.

If you want something your children can use that will work with your two way radios I would suggest purchasing a higher end model that has channels that can be set.
