Audiovox is a manufacturer of electronic products that services the entire range of retail outlets for several brands including the name sake. These brands include RCA, Acoustic Research, Advent, Jensen, Code Alarm, Energizer, Terk and Surface. Audiovox may be best known for its mobile audio products. I can remember when I wanted to replace the OEM stereo in my car that Audiovox always had several models in displays at the auto parts stores, Kmart and Wal-Mart stores that you could listen to along with testing out the various speaker configurations.

Audiovox makes a number of electronic products under its own name at opening price points for all types of retail stores. They make just about anything related to audio in all of their brands. They have accessory speakers, antennas, Bluetooth car kits, cables, camcorders, car sound systems, remote start and security systems, clock radios, digital picture frames, home and portable audio devices, internet radio, DVD players, mp3 players, surge protectors, power conditioners, table top radios, under cabinet televisions, universal remotes, voice recorders, wireless remotes and other wireless solutions.

There are a number of hits on Audiovox walkie talkie (53,700), but very few are current. After thoroughly searching the Audiovox corporate website and looking at every one of their product categories, Audiovox walkie talkies or Audiovox two way radios were nowhere to be found. I did find a review on ZDnet on the Audiovox walkie talkie model GMRS9010. It has twenty two channels (fifteen GMRS and seven FRS). According to FCC rules it requires a FCC license that you can get for $85 through the FCC website, but no one except for businesses that operate on the public safety channels ever actually get one. Of the millions of GMRS hand sets sold there are actually only 85,000 FCC licenses on file. This Audiovox walkie talkie has a ten mile output rating range with a weather alert indicator and weather radio indicator. You can use it hands free with a VOX headset and it has an LCD display, drop in charger with two NiMH batteries and belt clips. It is currently available on Amazon.com for $149.99 new in original packaging. Additionally it comes with a pair of earbuds and has a built in LED flashlight. According to Amazon this item originally appeared in June of 2004.

After searching for an Audiovox walkie talkie on Amazon I found that of all the entries the most recent date for first use I could find was in 2006.
